The Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots will faceoff February 5th 2017 in Super Bowl LI, aka Super Bowl 51. Matt Ryan vs Tom Brady is the main storyline heading into the game. The Patriots are appearing in their 9th Super Bowl which is an NFL record. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are playing in their 7th Super Bowl, also a National Football League record. The country may be pulling for the Falcons who have never hoisted the Lombardi Trophy, but everyone will take some solace if Roger Goodell has to handover the SB Trophy to Robert Kraft, after he suspended Tom Brady for 4 games, and fined the organization and docked them a draft pick.

Brady and Ryan are both MVP candidates, but that is irrelevant now that they are in Houston, Texas. Ryan has been unstoppable in the post season, completing more than 70% of his passes. Wide receiver Julio Jones has burned secondary’s all year long, and the key matchup may be corner Malcolm Butler on Jones. Butler was the hero in SB 49 with his goal line interception on Russell Wilson’s pass that cost the Seattle Seahawks the game.

Both offenses are stacked with weapons. That pats have LeGarrette Blount, Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Martellus Bennett, Danny Amendola, and Michael Floyd if he plays. The Falcons are stacked with Tevin Coleman, Devonta Freeman, Mohamed Sanu, and Taylor Gabriel. This game may come down to one big play, or more likely the team that makes fewer mistakes. Kyle Shanahan lost his playbook on day one, so maybe Atlanta is getting their mistakes out of the way early.

Head coach Dan Quinn is appearing in his 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years, but this is the 1st as head coach. He will need all of that experience to defeat Bill Belichick, who bested him 2 Super Bowls ago when Quinn had a much more talented defense on hand. Hopefully he can find ways for linebacker Vic Beasley to get pressure on the QB. The biggest absence in this SB is injured tight end Rob Gronkowski.
